County's High MS Rate Changing National Records

Tue Sep 10,12:38 PM ET

Lorain County's high rate of multiple sclerosis is prompting a change of national records.

NewsChannel5 reported that a recent federal study found that 271 people in Lorain County have the crippling neurological disease.

Of those, 26 cases are from Wellington -- a rate three to nine times the national rate.

The data on MS is now outdated, according to officials.

Researchers said that the Lorain data will eventually help determine the country's normal rate of MS.
