Drug Money. 4th-21st September 2002. A conceptual art show that explores magical realism in the psychological state associated with disability and chronic illness. It also examines the unique perspectives resident of the Susan Sontags. "Kingdom of the Ill" have towards the objects of their world in a metaphorically liberating and optimistic manner.
Each work sold is used to fund my drug therapy thus involving the purchase in the ever widening koru effect of affect. Conquering reality through art?
The show was timed to coincide with the NZ Multiple Sclerosis week. 9th-15th September 2002.
For those who can't make it in person I would like to invite you to come and see the virtual show which will follow the closing of the real one by about a month. You can register you interest on my web page, http://www.john.fletcher.name/ , and by that way be some of the first to visit.
If anyone knows a galley, society, etc. which would be interested in hosting the real show after October please contact me through the feedback part of my web site (link on the bottom of the pages). I hope to get it touring in the USA, UK, Ireland and Germany.
Opening 5:30 3rd September 2002.
