New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Recognized for Outstanding Contributions
Las Cruces, NM - September 7, 2001, was proclaimed "Frank DuBois Day" throughout the State of New Mexico by Governor Gary E. Johnson during the opening ceremonies of the New Mexico State Fair (NMSF) in Albuquerque. New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture, Frank A. DuBois, was presented with a proclamation for his outstanding contributions to the state fair and the New Mexico agriculture industry.
Secretary DuBois is the creator of the Rounder's Award, which honors those who live, promote, or articulate the western way of life. Most recently, he established the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship for qualifying student athletes at New Mexico State University. "I'm fortunate to be in a position where I'm able to create programs which recognize individuals for their accomplishments or provide financial assistance toward academic success," says Secretary DuBois.
NMSF Commissioner, Lauren H. Nunn, of Deming says, "Frank has been so important to us at the state fair and to the agricultural community all over New Mexico. We have followed and shared his many accomplishments on the local, state, and national level." Following the proclamation announcement by Governor Johnson, Commissioner Nunn presented a plaque to Secretary DuBois, on behalf of the NMSF Commission. Secretary DuBois has been a strong supporter of the state fair since his appointment 12 years ago. The New Mexico agriculture industry continues to play a critical role at the state fair each year.
