Susan Krieg has taken a personal struggle with multiple sclerosis and turned it into a reason to help raise money for medical research.

With the help of friends and family, Krieg, with a team of eight others, helped to raise $27,000 during the running of last year's Detroit Marathon for Multiple Sclerosis.

Now Krieg has a team of 25 traveling to the Chicago Marathon's 25th Anniversary 26.2-mile course Oct. 13.

"Our goals is $50,000 and I know this is our year to do just that," she said.

In 2001, she and her husband, David, completed the Detroit Marathon and the Philadelphia Marathon. This year she has ready participated in the Boston Marathon, shattering her Chicago time by 19 minutes by finishing in four hours and 39 minutes.
