Ref: NICE 2000/039 Issued: 16 October 2000
As reported by the Institute last month we received 8 (eight) appeals against the draft guidance on the use of interferon beta in MS. The appeal is an integral part of the Institute's process for developing its guidance for the NHS. All the nationally based organisations involved in the process are provided with the opportunity to make an appeal.
An independent appeal panel considered these appeals on the 22nd and 23rd September 2000.
The Institute has today spoken with the Chair of the beta interferon Appeal Panel to ascertain when we can expect to receive the panel's decision. We have been informed that it is unlikely that we will receive their decision this week.
We will inform appellants and stakeholders of the outcome of the appeal
as soon as practicably possible.
