The Multiple Sclerosis Trust, on behalf of UK Health Departments and the other partners in the recently announced risk-sharing scheme, is seeking to appoint a team with clinical, statistical and analytical skills to coordinate the monitoring of outcomes of disease modifying drug therapies for people with MS. The coordinating centre will be responsible within agreed time and budget for

working with the Association of British Neurologists to initiate and ensure consistent standards in the collection of clinical data;

liasing with the data collector at each prescribing site and collecting the clinical data onto a central database;

validating the data and, where necessary, challenging apparent "outliers";

arranging for the statistical analysis of the data and health economic assessment;

preparing reports and recommendations for the MS Trust and the Steering Committee.

There may also be opportunities for publishing and presenting research based on the analysis of the monitoring data, subject to agreement of the partners to the scheme.

This is a unique opportunity to take part in an innovative and exciting scheme, which will give access to disease-modifying treatments to all people with MS in the UK meeting current clinical criteria. Contracts will in the first instance be awarded for 3 years, with the option of renewal at 2-yearly intervals for the expected life of the scheme (up to 10 years from complete recruitment).
