A
retrospective study looked at risk of various disorders as influenced
by amalgam fillings. MS was one of the diseases looked and had a hazard
ratio of 1.24 (which I assume means a 24% increase from controls). They
dismiss it as "reassuring" that it provided only a limited association.
It was done on a base population of 20,000, but they were 84% male - so
they probably had quite a small number of people with MS in the group.
Personally, I would have preferred to see a hazard ratio much closer to
1.0.
