The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation
is pleased to announce the expansion of their Medical Advisory Board. The
Board members were chosen because they are specialists in or have an interest
in Multiple Sclerosis. The medical advisory board is comprised of board
certified specialists in areas of Occupational Therapy, Alternative Medicine,
Women's Health, Neurology, Psychology, Psychiatry and Internal Medicine.
"The expansion of the medical advisory
board into all facets of medicine and complementary medicine mirrors the
direction of the programs offered by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation,"
said Tammi Robinson, Director of Program Services. "We are honored to have
such a well balanced and renowned medical board to guide us into 2002 and
help create A Brighter Tomorrow(TM) for those afflicted with MS."
The Medical Board is comprised of
the following physicians:
David Squillacote, M.D., Neurologist
is senior medical advisor to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation since 1996.
Trained as a Neurologist at the University of Miami, Dr. Squillacote subsequently
completed fellowships in both Clinical Multiple Sclerosis and Neurological
Intensive Care. He is currently the Director of Regional Scientific Services
for Allergan/Botox.
Samer E. Kaba, M.D. is a neurologist,
with additional training in neuro- immunology (multiple sclerosis) and
in neuro-oncology. He was assistant professor of neurology and neuro-oncology
at the University of Arkansas for medical sciences before leaving academic
medicine to enter private practice at Neurology and Headache Specialists
of Atlanta. Dr. Kaba has published numerous scientific papers and book
chapters in the fields of neuro-immunology and neuro-oncology. He is a
principal and co-investigator of several MS trials. He is an active member
of many professional and scientific societies including the American Academy
of Neurology, Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers, the American Society
of Clinical Oncology and Society for Neuro-Oncology.
William L. Mundy, M.D. is a Clinical
Professor of Medicine, University of Missouri School of Medicine, Kansas
City, Missouri. Dr. Mundy is Vice- President of the MSF Board of Directors.
Extensive training has widely and continually enhanced Dr. Mundy's interest
and expertise in psychosomatic disease, both individual and group psychotherapy,
gestalt, transactional analysis, hypnosis, biofeedback, psychodrama and
neuro-linguistic programming. He has lectured and conducted workshops for
health professionals and lay audiences in the United States, Mexico, Canada
and Europe. Dr. Mundy maintains a private practice specializing in Psychiatry,
Internal Medicine, and Psychosomatic Disease.
Jennie Q. Lou, M.D., M.Sc., OTR/L
is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy and Associate Professor
of Public Health at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Dr. Lou has unique training and extensive experience in the fields of neurology,
neuroscience, and occupational therapy. Her clinical and research areas
include the application of neurotrophic factors in promoting regeneration
and sprouting of nerves in neurodegenerative diseases, and clinical trials
on evaluating the effectiveness of specific rehabilitative interventions
and wellness/health promotion programs for people who live with neurological
disorders.
Traci Seidman, Ph D., is a licensed
Clinical Psychologist in private family practice in Sunrise, Florida. She
combines cognitive and behavioral techniques with a strong background in
psychophysiology and psychopharmacology to understand and treat psychological
and adjustment disorders. Her focus is on helping people achieve positive
adaptations to many life events including chronic illness, pain and disabilities.
Randy S. Rovins, D.O.M., D.Ac. A.P.,
is a graduate of the National College of Oriental Medicine, Orlando, FL,
and holds advanced degrees in Holistic Healthcare. He has completed clinical
clerkships in Santa Fe, NM and Orlando, FL with a specialty in TCM Obstetrics
and Gynecology. He continues in private practice at Complementary Medical
Associates, P.A.
