GLOUCESTER, Bath and Bristol normally knock the living daylights out of each other as old enemies, but on Sunday they will be working up a sweat for a good cause at the Prince of Wales Stadium, Tommy Taylor Lane, Cheltenham. A Gloucester Veterans XV will take on a combined Bath and Bristol side to raise funds for Alastair Hignell, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis.
Many West Country favourites will take the field again, such as Gareth Chilcott. A number of Gloucestershire cricketers - Hignell also enjoyed a successful county career as a batsman - are also due to attend.
The original aim was to raise £11,000, roughly the cost of one year's medication for Hignell, but an anonymous donation of £10,000 by a local businessman this week means that the organisers have set a new target of £20,000.
Sunday's kick-off is 2pm.
