The Wisconsin Post-Crescent
Coping with disabilities will make having a merry Christmas difficult for one area family this year.
Jean is a 28-year-old mother of two sons, ages 5 and 4, who has multiple sclerosis.
Her 5-year-old son was recently diagnosed as autistic.
Because of the medical conditions, Jean receives Social Security disability payments for her and her son, which is the only income the family receives.
Just meeting day-to-day needs is a struggle for the young mother, let alone being able to find extra money for a Christmas meal or presents.
Families like Jean’s can be helped through the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family
program.
