Chronically ill patients are being invited to take part in an initiative to help them cope with their conditions.

North Devon Primary Care Trust is about to start its fourth Expert Patient Programme course on January 12 in Holsworthy, and is currently seeking to recruit five more people to the free places available.

The courses are aimed at people who have any long-term health problems such as heart disease, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, or multiple sclerosis. Each course is comprised of six, two-and-a-half hour sessions, which run on consecutive weeks.

The courses are an opportunity for people with chronic health conditions to meet with others with similar problems and develop skills to help them cope with day to day living.
