Inside MS
Investigators in Portland, Oregon, studied the effects of exercise on
levels of fatigue in people with MS. Researchers randomly assigned 69 participants
to be in one of three groups. One group took weekly yoga classes. Another
group took classes in riding stationary bicycles. Both of these groups
exercised at home as well as in the classes. A third group did not participate
in an exercise program. At the end of the six-month study, researchers
tested the participants and discovered that the people in both the yoga
group and the bicycle group reported a decrease in fatigue in a number
of different surveys as compared with people who received no exercise treatment.
