Millennium Award Winners

ManuScript Expression - Liz, from South East London, is setting up a 'Writing As Therapy' workshop. These classes will offer people with MS a creative form of therapy, while providing Liz with a unique opportunity to fulfil her aspirations.

The Millennium Award of £3378 covers Liz's training costs as well as helping with her childcare fees while she dedicates her time to setting up the scheme. It will also pay for promotion, books, equipment and room hire.

The Shane Project - Norma, from North London, will set up a support group for Black and Minority Ethnic people who are living with MS or who are caring for someone with Multiple Sclerosis, providing advocacy and raising awareness.

The Award of £5000 will pay for a website and booklet dedicated to the support group, a regular newsletter and the costs involved in a one-off awareness-raising health day bringing together health advisors, volunteers, carers and occupational therapists as well as providing a fun element.

S.E.N.S - Self Esteem Net Site - Sylvia, from the Isle of Wight is building a website to provide assistance with loss issues, techniques to regain self esteem and quality of life after disabling illness or injury, bereavement, redundancy and breakdown of relationships - all of relevance to people with MS.

The Award of £4768 helped pay for web design training for Sylvia, specialist software for the website, travel costs while she researched her information and help with personal assistance costs to assist in reading, writing and typing.
