Retired banking executive Oliver Waddell will receive a “Silver Hope Award” in October from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The award recognizes Mr. Waddell's recent gift of $5 million to the University of Cincinnati to create a multiple sclerosis research and treatment center. Mr. Waddell's wife, Virgilee, was diagnosed with MS 22 years ago.

The Ohio Valley Chapter serves more than 4,000 people with MS in a region that includes 24 counties in western and southern Ohio, and three counties in Northern Kentucky.

The award will be presented at the society's Dinner of Champions, scheduled for Oct. 3 at the Omni Netherland Plaza.
