The One
by Carmel Pacey Digby

Desire of my heart,
Light of my eyes,
Breath of my life,
How could I forget you
For a single heartbeat?
I see you
In every leaf,
In every raindrop,
Or teardrop
From my lover's eye.
Fragments of rainbow
To remind me of
Your love,
Even in
The storm.

My life is yours,
Yours, mine.
My strength in your power
To heal.
To create.
To love.

Yet I've gone seeking you
In men,
Forgetting that they
Are just men,
Seeking too.

So hand in hand
We enter the hollow place
Within,
And find there the light
That makes rainbows
Of our tears.
And know the source
Of our love.
Desire of our hearts.
The One.
